‘Why Bottled-Milk Is The Right Choice’
Have you ever wondered why the milk you buy in supermarkets has such a long shelf life? It’s a process called Ultra-pasteurization. This treatment of your milk increases shelf life by 3-6 months (real milk does not last that long). The key word here is a process.
Ultra Pasteurization (UP), or Ultra High Temperature (UHT) pasteurization, is the process of heating milk to approximately 280°F for just 2 seconds and then chilling it back down rapidly. The result is milk that’s 99.9% free from bacteria. This process also removes almost all positive nutritional benefits. What’s more alarming is that the containers you purchase that house this UHT milk need to be ironclad to be able to store milk for up to 6 months. The glues, chemicals, and plastics in these containers, (in our opinion) affect the integrity of your store-purchased milk.
Our farms do not support this method of preserving, nor do we process our milk with UHT. OMC farms are all within 3-4 hours driving distance. Your milk goes from the cow to the bottle, to your home in as little as the same day. Rain, snow and even holidays, OMC delivers weekly and on time, taking the hassle out of grocery shopping.
Your milk will also only have a 15-day day shelf life, as it should. Environmental/Eco-friendly glass bottles are non-porous and will not affect the integrity of your milk.
